Mary A. Wheeler, 61, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Albany Medical Center.

Born July 2, 1953 in Latham, NY, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Kowansky) Zubal.

Mary was employed for many years as a secretary at Adirondack Steel in Watervliet. She also worked more recently at the Glens Falls Hospital in the Rehab Unit, and also at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Mary was a hot air balloon enthusiast. She donated her time to volunteer at the Adirondack Balloon Festival every year. Mary was part of the festival staff and enjoyed working in many various capacities, such as checking in the pilots, distributing the champagne bottles for balloon landings, and selling advertisements to support the festival.

Mary is survived by her husband, Thomas Zmud, her brother, Michael Pasterchick and his wife Jackie, her niece Diana Pasterchick, her nephews, Jason and Andy Pasterchick, her great-niece Ava Pasterchick, and many good friends.
