Obituary for Harold Middleton

FORT EDWARD

Harold E. Middleton, formerly of Fort Edward and Saratoga, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Washington Center in Argyle, NY.

Born September 20, 1921, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Alma (Gilroy) Middleton of Fort Edward.

Harold attended Fort Edward High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served from 1942-1946 on a destroyer, The USS Black in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

Harold worked as a machinist in several places, but most recently at Albany Engineering Systems, and was also a member of the American Legion Post 323.

On July 11, 1969, he married Catherine Davies and they spent 33 years together until her death on July 9, 2002. They loved traveling and visited almost every state. Harold also loved working on clocks, and taking things apart so he could put them back together again. His favorite thing to do in his later years was to drive his “red” sports car.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Harold was predeceased by his sisters; Ruth Cooley and her husband Lewis, Audrey Copeland, and Arlene Middleton, as well as his brothers; Clarence Middleton and his wife Miriam, and Donald Middleton, and his brother-in-law, John Wood.

Survivors include his sister Betty Wood, his sister Jane Steele and her husband Thomas, his brother-in-law Ike Copeland, and his step-children; Pamela MacConnell and her husband David, Earl Davies and his wife Margaret, Jeffrey Davies and his wife Denise, and Gary Davies and his wife Rhonda, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At Harold’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. To leave online condolences or to view Harold’s Book of Memories, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
