Dorthy “Dotty” Gatchell, 57, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Glens Falls Hospital with her family by her side.

Born May 16, 1957 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Jacquelyn (Cordner) Maier and the late John Byrnes.

Dotty was an independent contractor for The Post Star. She enjoyed playing her keyboard, and making artistic drawings with colored pencils. She grew a beautiful garden full of flowers including her favorite marigolds. Dotty will always be remembered for selflessly taking care of others. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters.

In addition to her father, Dotty was predeceased by her brothers; Dan and Michael Byrnes, and her sister, Christine Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 25 years, Charles England, her daughters, Tian Gatchell and Brittany Bacon and her husband Leonard, her granddaughters; Sophia “Bugaboo” and Lailah “Boodiddle”, her mother Jacquelyn Maier, and her siblings; Ed Byrnes and his wife Linda, Tracy Byrnes and her husband Curt Beswick, and John Byrnes II.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11am following calling hours at the church with Pastor Richard Dietrich officiating.

Interment will follow services at Southside Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
