Obituary for Donald L. Aubrey

HARTFORD —
Rev. Donald L. Aubrey, 86, went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ Thursday, December 11, 2014. He had been in the care of High Peaks Hospice for the past several weeks enabling him to enjoy the last days of his life at home with his wife and members of his family.
Donald was born February 28, 1928, to Robert J. and Lillian Irene (Burwash) Aubrey. He married Nancy E. Hamilton on June 6, 1953 at the First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls, NY.
He grew up in the Adamsville community and trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the Adamsville Baptist Church in 1938. He was a 1946 graduate of Hartford High School. He went on to graduate from the Moody Bible Institute (1952) with a diploma in Pastoral Studies and obtained his Bachelor's degree from the Gordon College of Theology and Missions (1955), Boston, MA.
Aubrey served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Warrensburg, NY for four and a half years (1955-1959) and the First Baptist Church of New Berlin, NY for nineteen years (1959-1979). He served as a regional Stewardship Representative for the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, Illinois for twenty years, initially in New England and later in Eastern Ohio working out of the Akron area. He retired to the Hartford-Granville area in June of 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant sister, Margaret; and four brothers, Howard, Harold, Willard, and Robert Aubrey.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy (Hamilton) Aubrey; two daughters, Carol and her husband, Greg Gifford of Jefferson, Ohio; Beth and her husband, Steve Hardy of Gresham, Oregon; three sons, Thomas and his wife Carol Aubrey of Rock Island, Illinois; Nathan and his wife Amy Aubrey of Hartford, New York; and Paul Aubrey of Scarborough, Maine; twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; his brothers, Gordon Aubrey and his wife, Patricia, and Richard Aubrey and his wife, Betty; as well as, his sister, Claire (Aubrey) Hamilton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at Durkeetown Baptist Church, 2 Durkeetown Rd, Fort Edward, NY 12828 on Wednesday, December 17th at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Aubrey of the First Evangelical Free Church of Moline, Illinois officiating.
Graveside Services will be conducted 2pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Morningside Cemetery, Hartford, NY.
