Obituary for Carmen Lynn Wendell

GLENS FALLS
Carmen Lynn Wendell (Mattison), 57, of Glens Falls, passed away on Sunday January 11, 2015, after a three year battle with breast cancer.

Born on January5, 1958, in Glens Falls Hospital, she was the daughter of Ann (Alden) Smith and William Mattison, and her stepfather Robert Smith, who became a father to her and treated her like his own daughter.

Carmen worked at the old shirt factory when she was younger, and later at Bob’s Grill in Schuylerville until it burned down. Her most important and loved job was caring for her family. Not a day went by that she did not let us know how important we were and how much she loved us. Carmen was loved by everyone she met and her kind demeanor and beautiful smile were infectious. She was a lover of all animals from the biggest to the smallest and they could all sense that about her. They all loved her just as much.

She loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas with her husband, Dennis; beloved mother in law, Constance Lloyd; and daughter Jennifer.

She was predeceased by several pets; and two very special cousins, Duane Kim, and Ivy Matthews; her grandmother, Isabel Alden; and father in law, Edward Lloyd.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Dennis Wendell of Glens Falls; her daughter, Jennifer Janssen, and her husband Jay; her son, Anthony Wendell, and his girlfriend Melissa; her three grandsons, Sean Janssen, William Janssen and Liam Wendell; her brothers Christopher Smith, and his wife, Tiffany, Jamison Smith, and Jeff Mattison; her sisters, Roseann Merritt, and husband Art, of Lewiston Maine; several nieces and nephews; a special niece who thought of her like a mother, Stephanie Smith; her dog Jolie, cat Fancy; as well as many special friends.

At Carmen’s request there will be no calling hours.

A memorial and service will be held at the convenience of the family.

The Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center for everything you did to help our angel during the last three years.

‘YOU KNOW WHAT!’
