Obituary for Jeremy Daniel Otruba

SOUTH GLENS FALLS
Jeremy Daniel Otruba, 26, of Bluebird Rd., South Glens Falls, passed away on Thursday January 22, 2015, in a tragic car accident.

Born on May 14, 1988, he was the son of Jeffrey and Sara (Persons) Otruba.

Jere attended high school at South Glens Falls Central School, class of 2006. He started his career while still in school working for the family business, J&O Concrete Construction co., Inc., working the excavation crew digging in the dirt. He continued his career at Bast Hatfield learning and growing to enable him to achieve his goal of becoming a Heavy Equipment Operator, and was employed with Arold Construction of Kingston, NY.

Jere was an avid outdoors man loving the time he spent rabbit and deer hunting with family and friends. The only thing he enjoyed more than hunting was fishing. He was always up for a day of ice fishing on some lake in the Adirondacks, Cat fishing down on the locks, off a boat or along a brook on some back road with one of his Buddies. He also enjoyed concerts at SPAC, Dave Matthews being his once a year, I got to go and not just one night but every show, going camping, weekend trips to Adirondack Beagle and Hare Club with his Dad and Grandpa Otruba, where he was also a member, field trials, the Rodeo, helping Melvin on the farm and going to the auction. He never passed up a road trip and was always up for an adventure. He could fix anything just like his Poppy Persons. He loved all kinds of music but was mostly a country fan. He loved taking part in the South High Marathon dance first as a student and later the time spent with the kids as an Alumni. The one and only thing that could delay a fishing trip or change his plans was his "DOODLE" the love of his life, the apple of his eye his niece, Elise Otruba who he spent as much time as he could with loving and teaching and now will continue to watch over and protect.

Jere was a gentle giant filled with love for everyone. He was always ready to give you a much needed big Jere Bear hug or just slip his arm around to protect and support. He touched so many lives and had an unforgettable presence. Everyone was his friend, just some, those lucky ones, he held a little closer. He was quick with a joke and could fill a room with laughter using that witty charm. I can still hear those words "Like Steal Guitars and Diamond Rings you’re looking at the next big thing". My son you were our big thing and I will be lost without you. Never forgotten and allows on my mind and in my heart.

Jere is now with his cousin and "Little Buddy" Nicholas Persons and his:
“Poppy” George Persons.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jeffrey and Sara (Persons) Otruba; his sister and friend, Amanda Otruba; his lifelong friend and little brother, Joel Otruba, Joel's significant other and Jere's Sister-Friend Danielle Whiting, their daughter Elise “Doodle” Otruba whom Jere was loving known as Uncle Bear by; his Grandma and Grandpa, John and Nora Otruba, of Pottersville, NY; his Nan, Martha Persons, of Bakers Mills, NY; many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and two very special young men that stood by him through thick and thin Tom Davis and Jake Clute whom all loved him Dearly.

Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Thursday January 29, 2015 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. Cat hats, Carharts, and Cowboy boots are welcomed in Jere's honor.
