Obituary for Harriet Smatko (Gannon)

It is with a sad heart we announce the passing of our mother, Harriet Smatko on February 19, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Harriet (Knickerbocker) and Lucien Gannon. Harriet was born May 6, 1922 and enjoyed a full and happy life, along with her ten brothers and sisters.
Harriet was a lifelong resident of Fort Edward, living in “Little Canada” and on “the Point”. She loved spending summers at Lake Hadlock and some of her fondest memories included family outings on the lake.
She was a communicant of St Joseph’s church, Fort Edward and always ready to say a rosary “for luck” for her grandchildren and great grandchildren sporting events.
Besides her parents, Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Andrew (Andy), her beloved son John Peter and grandson Christopher Alden.
Also awaiting her arrival in Heaven are her brothers, Leonard, Earl and John and sisters Leona, Frances, Evelyn, Geraldine and Phyllis.
She is survived by her daughters’ Margaret and her husband Paul Sheehan of Queensbury and Patricia and her husband William Alden of Oakton, VA. She will also be missed by, her grandchildren, Mark (MiYoung) Sheehan, Kevin (Christina) Sheehan, Peter Sheehan, Kathleen Wilson and Juliet Alden. Also, her great grandchildren, McKenna, Casey, Benjamin and Alexandria Sheehan and Brett, Drew and Luke Wilson have lost one of their greatest admirers.
She is also survived by her sister Barbara MacPherson, her brother James (Phoebe) Gannon and sister-in-law Thelma Gannon and many very special nieces and nephews.
