Obituary for Luella Linehan

South Glens Falls
Luella Christine (Taft) Linehan entered into eternal peace with her Lord and Savior on Thursday February 19, 2015 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Queensbury, NY.

Luella was born on August 13, 1928 in Whitehall, NY, the daughter of the late Henry and Christine (Columb) Taft.

She graduated from Whitehall High School, class of 1945. Following her education, she worked as a telephone service assistant with the New York Telephone Company in Glens Falls, NY, training telephone operators in various cities around the country.

Luella met her future husband Paul, while working at her second job as a waitress in a local diner. His smart answer to her question of; “just what did he want for lunch?” resulted in a marriage lasting over 64 years.

Luella was an antique buff who frequented garage sales and auctions. She restored old wooden furnishing that added to the lovely décor of her home. She took great pride in creating an elegant, yet comfortable home for her family and assorted pets. She was always knitting something for her children and grandchildren. Later in life, she took up quilting, which she came to thoroughly enjoy. Luella was a wonderful cook and baker who prepared delicious meals every evening for her hard working, bricklayer husband.

As was her husband, Luella was very civic minded. She studied local history and family genealogy and was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Luella served on the South Glens Falls Board of Education and was the Republican parent who ran and was elected to the Moreau Town Board.

Luella was predeceased by and infant daughter, Amy Eileen; her sister, Connie Zeiller; her brothers, Russell, William, Ronald, and John Taft.

In addition to her husband Paul, she leaves behind her son, David Linehan and his wife Marcia; her daughter, Christine Roberts; her son, Daniel Linehan and his wife Marie; her son Michael Linehan, her son, Andrew Linehan and his wife Sarah, and her daughter, Elizabeth Jones. Also left to cherish her memory are thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; Timothy and Rachel Linehan; Scott Paul Roberts and his wife Erin and their children Nathan, Jenna, Claire, and Sadie; Jonathan Roberts and his wife Christie and their children Sienna, Luke and Michael; Erin Barrett and her husband Dan and Corie Linehan; Meghan Linehan; Patrick, James and Thomas Linehan and Alexander, Emma, and Madilyn Jones.

Also surviving Luella are two sisters, Cynthia Wilcox and Joann T. Levack and her husband Paul; Sister in law, Linda Taft; brother in law, Hugh Zeiller; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

At Luella’s request, the family will receive family and friends at 10 a.m. one hour before a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave. South Glens Falls NY, 12803, with the Rev. Guy A. Childs, pastor, officiating.

Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring.
