Obituary for Patricia Ann Morris

Patricia Ann Morris
South Glens Falls/ Moreau

Patricia Ann Morris, 76, of Saratoga Avenue, passed away Thursday morning, March 12, 2015 at home after a long illness. She was a strong, determined and courageous woman to have lived with her illnesses for so long and to have been able to weather each bout as they came time and time again as she did. We can all take comfort in knowing she stayed in her home to the end as she desired and we honored her wishes.

Patricia was born on June 26, 1938, in Rutland, Vermont. She was the daughter of the late Eric and Emily (Gallo) D’Angelo.

As a youth, Patricia lived in Glens Falls and Queensbury where she attended their schools. After high school, Patricia pursued hairdressing, attended and graduated from cosmetology school in Albany, NY. Patricia played an instrumental part in the success of not one, but two local family businesses. On and off through the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and even 80’s she helped manage her father Eric D’Angelo’s Village Inn in South Glens Falls. Many remember her as the beautiful brunette with sincere personality and wonderful spirit who assisted them. All of our lives, Patricia’s family has heard and still hears those positive stories by many who frequented the establishment, which is a tribute to her genuine nature, kindness, and beauty!

Patricia raised her family on Route 9 in South Glens Falls, NY. For many years through the 1960’s and 1970’s Patricia owned and operated her own seasonal cabin business. Patricia had and raised two sons, Todd and Richard Jr.

Later in life through the 1990’s and 2000’s as her sons operated a Garden Center and Landscape Business on the old homestead property they were raised, what is today Toadflax Nursery. Patricia was a key cog in its success as she oversaw and operated the retail portion of the business. She very much enjoyed socializing with the Garden Shop patrons and helping them out with their flower selections. Patricia also enjoyed attending and graduating from Horticultaral School in the winter months and looked forward to the spring of a new growing season each year. She very much enjoyed her work, was proud of her sons and Patricia was no doubt the most devoted and loved worker Toadflax ever had. Patricia rarely was ever seen at Toadflax or around town without her Toadflax apron on, which she wore proudly!

Patricia was a special woman and every time her name was mentioned in conversation it was always in a positive light. Nobody ever had a negative thing to say about Patricia. She was a social butterfly who could warm up to just about anyone she met. Patricia knew how to bring out the best in people for she was a great listener and truly was interested in what people had to say. She was genuine and sincere. What you got from Patricia was a very warm feeling every time you were in her presence! She was a wonderful person who will be truly missed by all who were lucky enough to have met and conversed with her!

Patricia enjoyed holding bible studies and attending church meetings. Patricia enjoyed reading newspapers, magazines and was an avid collector of recipes. She loved the simple things in life. Patricia lived for her grandchildren; she loved them dearly, enjoyed their visits and cherished her time spent with them. She looked forward to conversing with her grandchildren and enjoyed their interactions and responses.

Left to cherish Patricia’s memory include her two sons, Richard Morris Jr. and his wife Cheryl Morris of South Glens Falls, Todd Morris and his wife Patience Morris of South Glens Falls, her three sisters; Jacqueline Herschleb and her husband Douglas of Queensbury, Linda Ashline and her husband Pete of Saratoga Springs, Terry McCabe and her husband Michael of Queensbury, two brothers; Thomas D’Angelo of Warrensburg and Eric D’Angelo of South Glens Falls, four grandchildren; Zachary Morris, Madeline Morris, Isabella Morris and Julian Morris who were all the love and joy of her life, several nieces and nephews; Wendy (D’Angelo) Haggerty, Timothy D’Angelo, Troy Ashline, Melissa (Ashline) Churubino, Lindsey (D’Angelo) Praino, Emily McCabe and Stefanie (Herschleb) Music.
