Charles “Chuck” Bradley Bemis, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Ticonderoga on August 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Edith Bemis and was raised by the late Ma Seddon.

He was a graduate of Fort Edward School and Albany Business College.

Charles enlisted in the United State Army in 1959 and served his country until 1962.

On March 4, 1962, Charles married his bride Mary L. O’Connell in St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward. They spent 30 years together before her passing in 1992.

He was the owner of The Villager and Everett’s Rest for several years. Charles worked as an Insurance Auditor for Continental Insurance and retired after many years from CNA Insurance.

Charles was an active and intricate member of the Idle Hour Club serving on the board for many years. He was a member of the 11 Iron Man Football Team in 1954, and refereed for 36 years for the Adirondack Chapter of Football Officials.

He enjoyed boating on Lake George and was his grandchildren’s biggest fan and enjoyed attending many of their sporting events.

Besides his wife and mother, Charles is predeceased by mother in-law, Jane Hanley, brother’s in-law, Jon Hall and Willis “Bumper” O’Connell.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Melissa Bemis-Tyler and husband Troy of Fort Edward, Danielle Bemis-Heym and husband Tom of Hudson Falls, grandchildren, Charliegh Tyler, Cameron Tyler, Morgan Heym, Raeghan Heym, and Mitch Heym, great granddaughters, Mary, Brynlie and Maya, foster brother, Stanley Green, brothers and sister’s in-law, Sharon Hall, Lola Vaughn and husband Herald, and Joanne O’Connell along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and one spoiled brat.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be conducted at 1p.m. on Saturday May 2, 2015 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors of Tower 6 at the Glens Falls Hospital and staff of Hospice for the care they gave Charles and a special thank you to Aunt Sharon for giving him such great care.
