Doug was a devoted Christian, serving as Elder for the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Albany and a member of the Vestry of the Adirondack Mission.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman, alpine skier and a longtime member of the “Back Woods Ski Club” at Gore Mountain.
