Jay H. LaLonde Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home with his family by his side.

Born June 5, 1931 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Godfrey and Beatrice (LaFranier) LaLonde.

Jay proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in 1950-1951. Upon leaving the service, he married the love of his life, Marlene Lash on January 17, 1953.

Jay was employed as a chemist at Ames Chemical in Glens Falls until his retirement in 1988. He also owned his own appliance delivery business.

Jay was also a member of the American Legion Post 553. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved to bowl and go metal detecting, as well as collect baseball cards and stamps. Most of all, Jay enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by his brothers; Art, Jack, Godfrey and Bob LaLonde, as well as his sisters, Margaret DiDio and Joann Bruce.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Marlene LaLonde, his children; Charlene Rice, Renee Schult and her husband Roy, Lisa Beecher and her husband Greg, Jay LaLonde Jr., and Rick Lalonde Sr. and his wife Darlene, his sister Peggy Fisher, his brother Terry LaLonde, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
