Jean (Gifford) Brodie Wade, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 22, 2015 surrounded by her family.

Born August 6, 1929 in Hudson Falls she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Madeline (Smith) Gifford.

Jean was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On September 18, 2004 Jean married Maurice Wade in Mount Holly, VT.

After graduating Jean worked for Scott Paper, Hartford Central School and later retired from Sherwood Medical.

She enjoyed Yankees baseball, listening to old time country music, bluegrass, crocheting, going to the casino, traveling, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jean was a member of The Adirondack Fiddler association.

Besides her parents, Jean is predeceased by her first husband, Edwin A. Brodie Sr.; a son Gary Brodie; her brother James Gifford; two son-in-law’s, Roy Wade and Larry Dewey.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Maurice Wade; her daughters, Holly McCarthy and her husband Duane, Diane Wade and Joyce Martin all of Hartford; her son Edwin A. Brodie Jr. of Hudson Falls; her step daughter DaleSusan Hughes and her husband David of Poultney; stepson Brian Wade and his wife Stephanie of Poultney; her grandchildren, Melissa Burney, Rebecca Hasemann and her husband Scott, Russell Wade and his wife Andrea, Steven Wade and his wife Abbey, Jeffrey, Jessica, Jacob and Justin Martin, Kevin, Christie, Jamie, Keith, Bianca and Gary Brodie; three step grandsons, Timothy, Alexander and Christopher Wade of Poultney; several great grandchildren; her brother Elmer Gifford and his wife Dorothy of Moreau; her sisters, Patricia Bruce and her husband Clifford of Lake George, Joyce Mattison and her husband Earl of Fort Ann; sister-in-law Ann Gifford of Gansevoort, along with many nieces nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 7p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Argyle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Patti Girard of the Hartford yoked parish officiating. To view Jean’s Book of Memories or post online condolences please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

Burial will be at Morningside Cemetery in Hartford following the service on Tuesday.
