Rita Elizabeth (Lanzo) Belisle, 73, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Glens Falls Hospital with her family by her side.

Born May 21, 1942 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Cosmo and Anne (Gallagher) Lanzo.

Rita graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls in 1960.

She was a communicant of the St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.

On September 11, 1965, Rita married Ronald G. Belisle in St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls. Rita and Ronald celebrated 50 years of marriage with their family on a cruise to Bermuda this past summer.

Rita was employed by the South Glens Falls school system for 25 years until her retirement in June of 2006.



In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her daughter Maria (Belisle) Lapan, who passed away on December 22, 1991.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald Belisle of South Glens Falls, her children; Matthew Belisle of Queensbury, Michelle Harger and her husband Jeffrey of Cary,NC, and Marcie Belisle of Raleigh,NC, her two grandsons, Logan and Austin Harger, her sisters; Marianna Rafferty and her husband John of South Glens Falls,NY, and Eleanor Wittman and her husband James of Saratoga Springs, NY, and her brother James Lanzo and his wife Diane of Wellsville,NY, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am following calling hours at the church with Rita’s nephew, Rev. Michael Rafferty, officiating.

Burial will be held on Monday November 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gerald B. H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

Memorial donations in Rita’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
