Dorothy Brown, 98, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Fort Hudson Nursing Center, Fort Edward.

Born in Marion Center, PA on November 3, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie (Thompson) Butler.

Dorothy was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Fort Edward, and member of the Gansevoort Senior Center.

She enjoyed bowling, reading, bingo, picture puzzles, crosswords and word find puzzles, games, especially dominos and was an avid NY Yankees fan.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, Steve Brown; her brother, W. Carlton Butler; her sisters; Mary Butler, Ruth Ashton, Pearl Butler, Doris Thomas, Grace Mills, Muriel Huffer and Edith Bain.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Ruth Hamilton and her husband Donald of Fishdale, MA; her sons, James Brown and his wife Joanne of San Antonio, TX, William Brown and his wife Barbara of Fort Edward and Donald Brown and his wife Mela of Fort Edward; 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 1 great greatgrandchild, several nieces nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 6-8p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Josephs Church 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Burial will be in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery Argyle.

The family expresses their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and aides of the Fort Hudson Health System for their compassionate and dedicated care of Dorothy throughout her years of residency.
