Don J. Amell Jr., 58, of Coot Hill Road, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

Born on July 3, 1957 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Don J. Sr. and Catherine (Spellacy) Amell.

Don graduated from South Glens Falls High School in the class of 1976.

On May 20, 1978, Don married the love of his life, Donna M. Humphries at St. Michael the Archangel Church in So. Glens Falls, and they spent 37 happy years together.

Don was employed with Irving Tissue, Fort Edward, for 15 years as a Process Technician.

Don was a lifetime member of the Argyle Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, traveling to Maine, camping and going for motorcycle rides together. Don loved the outdoors, mowing his lawn, he was an avid New York Yankee’s and Pittsburgh Steelers fan as well as a season ticket holder for the Adirondack Thunder. Most of all, Don loved spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his parents, Don was also predeceased by his son, Staff Sgt. Jesse L. Amell in 2012 as well as his brother, Darryl E. Amell, in 2013; his father in law, Robert Humphries in 2007

Left to cherish his memory includes his wife Donna M. (Humphries) Amell, of Argyle; his son, Jason M. Amell, of Queensbury, two sisters, Donna Gundersen and husband Chris, of Wilton and Doreen Kirk and husband Tony, of So. Glens Falls; his mother in law, Mildred Humphries; his sister in law, Melody Kobor and her husband, Dennis, of So. Glens Falls; his brother in law, Robert L. Humphries and his wife, Julie, of So. Glens Falls; his “adopted” daughter, Megan White, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm on Sunday May 15, 2016 at Fellowship Hall, at Argyle Presbyterian Church, 48 Main St. Argyle, NY 12809. Members and Auxiliary of the J.A. Barkley Hose Co. No. 1 are requested to meet at 3:15pm at the church.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11am on Monday May 16, 2016 at the Argyle Presbyterian Church, Main St. Argyle with the Rev. Stephen McLean, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle.
