Joseph A. Powers, 93, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at his home with his loving wife by his side.

Born in Queensbury on May 9, 1923 as one of twelve children to the late William and Julia (O’Leary) Powers.

Joseph was a graduate of Saint Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls.

After graduation he proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II.

On January 2, 1946 Joe married the love of his live Ann F. Lyons.

Joseph retired from Hercules/Ciba-Geigy.

He belonged to many social clubs and enjoyed camping and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his siblings, Lawrence, Paul, Leo, Marjorie, Lucille, Martha, Margaret and Rachael; his daughter, JoAnn who passed in 2008.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ann Powers; son, Timothy J. Powers and his wife Bonnie of Hudson Falls, Kevin J. Powers and his wife Joni of Sarasota, FL; he is grandfather to eight grandchildren, Dawn Isbell, Gabrielle Allen, Jennifer Feeney, Renee Thorpe, Erin Trombley, Ryan Wade, Kameron Powers, and Meghan Powers. He is Great-Grandfather to eleven children including two foster children. He is survived by his sisters Veronica of Glens Falls, Natalie of Hudson Falls and Patricia of Clifton Park as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Joe’s request there will be no calling hours.

Rite of Committal will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871, at the convenience of the family.

In Lieu of flowers memorial donations in Joe’s memory can be made to The Community Hospice of Saratoga 179 Lawrence St. Saratoga, NY 12866.
