Anita (Catone) Sears, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 9, 2016 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Center.
Born in Ballston Spa on Feb. 19, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane (Strianese) Catone.
Anita married the love of her life John “Jack” Sears at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward and they spent many happy years together until his passing on May 7, 2015.
She attended Fort Edward Schools earning her diploma in 1948.
Prior to raising her niece, Beth Ann, Anita was employed as a book keeper for Glens Falls and Fort Edward Schools, a position she held for many years.
Anita enjoyed cooking for her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her extended family, especially during Christmas Eve and summers around the pool.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anita is predeceased by her three sisters, Mary Jane King and her husband, Jack, Sylvia Durkin and her husband, Tom and Dolores Bardin and her husband, Ben.
Left to cherish her memory are her niece, Beth Ann Bardin; her sister, Sandra Collins and her husband, Joe; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to call on Monday July 11, 2016 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm on Monday July 11, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward NY.
Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward.
Memorial donations in Anita’s name can be made to the Fort Hudson Foundation, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward NY 12828.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Center for taking such good care of Anita for the last five years.
