Obituary for Ruth Pratt (Wilsie)

South Glens Falls

Ruth M. Pratt, 83, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born April 2, 1933 in Springfield, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (McQueen) Wilsie.

She graduated from Chestertown High School.

On February 2, 1952 she married the love of her life Edward F. Pratt in St. John the Baptist Church in Chestertown.

Ruth was a communicant of St. Michaels Church in South Glens Falls for many years.

As a young woman Ruth was employed as a Telephone Operator in Chestertown. After her children were in school she worked in the catalog department at Sears. She obtained her realtor license and worked for Monument Realty. She spent most of her career with First National Bank of Glens Falls, where she retired in 1989.

She was a member of the Moreau Community Center where she enjoyed the fun band, bus tours/trips and especially her cross country trip with Ed. Ruth also enjoyed going south for the winters with Ed after he retired.

In addition to her parents Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Edward F. Pratt; daughter, Patricia Hall; son-in-law, David LaFountain; brothers, Ralph and Robert Wilsie; grandmother, Ruth Weston.

Left to cherish her memory include her sons, Michael E. Pratt, Timothy P. Pratt and his significant other Sue Clarke; daughters, Kathleen Bourdeau and her husband Joseph, Maureen Leggett and her husband Michael, Laurie LaFountain, Mary Belair and her husband Joe; son-in-law, Paul Flood and his wife Linda; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

At Ruth’s request there will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Thursday August 4, 2016 at 11a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 80 Saratoga Ave. South Glens Falls, NY 12803 with Rev. Guy A. Childs officiating.

Rite of committal will take place following mass at 1p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY 12871.

The family suggests donations in Ruth’s memory be made to the Moreau Community Center 144 Main St. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
