Obituary for Eleanore Lillian Bodner (Gondola)

Eleanore Lillian Bodner (Gondola)
QUEENSBURY - Eleanore Lillian Bodner, 85, of Queensbury, N.Y., passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at sunrise on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016.

Born on May 28, 1931, in Bridgeport, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Susan and Alex Gondola and a graduate of Bassick High School in Bridgeport. She moved to Queensbury in 1965 and was employed by The First National Bank of Glens Falls until she retired.

Eleanore was devoted to her family and faith. She raised five children and played a significant role in the lives of her three grandchildren. She was a second-generation Hungarian immigrant, but loved English culture and traveled to England twice after she retired. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was strong-willed, and remained quick-witted until her passing, thanks in part to her daily routine of solving word puzzles. She enjoyed reading, listening to classical music and spending time with family along the Hudson River. Eleanore was a faithful member of the Queensbury United Methodist Church and participated in several area senior organizations.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Ethel Hunyor and brother-in-law Steven, brother Joseph Gondola and sister-in-law Margaret, brother Alex Gondola, brother-in-law Alex Perigyi, special aunt Kati Kish, and beloved daughter Jenifer Jones.

She is survived by her children, Jayne Bouder of Fort Edward, Jill Bodner and son-in-law Michael Nadeau of Kingsbury, Mark Bodner of Pilot Knob, Thomas Bodner of Corinth, and son-in-law Wayne Jones of Corinth; grandchildren Robert Bouder and his wife Pallavi of Liverpool, N.Y., Curtis Jones of New Paltz, N.Y., and Douglas Jones and his wife Catie of Syracuse, N.Y.; sister Elza Perigyi of Fairfield, Conn., and sister-in-law Elizabeth Gondola of Worcester, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Eleanore has gifted her body to the training of medical students through the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical College.

A memorial service will take place at the Queensbury United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 11:00 a.m. To view Eleanore’s Book of Memories and post online condolences, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
