John F. Greenough, 52, gained his wings on Christmas Day, Sunday December 25, 2016 in Troy, NY with his loving family by his side.

Born October 30, 1964 in Cohoes, NY, he was the son of William Greenough and the late Donna (Ayers) Greenough. John also led the yearly Brick Church Memorial Service in Whitehall.

After retiring from the UMC ministry in 2015, John became part of the Northway Taxi Family in Latham and continued his pastoral duties in the driver’s seat of his van.

John was certainly known for his sense of humor, whether in general or behind the pulpit, he enjoyed making people laugh. John enjoyed fishing, bowling, and golfing and was an avid fan of Jeff Gordon, the NY Jets and NY Mets. But most importantly, he was the biggest fan of his children. John attend every dance recital, sporting event and baseball game that his kids participated in. His love for his family was above everything else.

In addition to his mother, John was also predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Doris and Francis Ayers of Whitehall, and his paternal grandparents, Frederick and Louise Greenough of Whitehall.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lori (Gregware) Greenough, his children; Ciayera and Krisandra Greenough, and Jared Gregware, his father William Greenough and his wife Linda, his brothers; Michael Greenough and his wife Debby, and William Greenough and his wife Saundra, his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and David Cook, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
