Obituary for Andrew Oliver Garand

Andrew Oliver Garand
SOUTH GLENS FALLS
Andrew Oliver Garand, 74, of Ryder Ave. passed away Thursday January 12, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born in Glens Falls on March 18, 1942, he was the son of the late, Andrew and Dorothy (Garrow) Garand.

He attended Glens Falls Schools in his youth. After graduation, Andrew enlisted in the United States Air Force.

He retired from Scott Paper Co./ Irving Tissue, where he worked for 38 years in pulp prep and then helped to design and engineer a main pump system there.

Andrew loved sports and rooted for the NY Giants and the Yankees along with his son, Michael.

His family remains proud of the fact that he bought the family home in 1970 and more than doubled the homes size by building and expansive addition and a pool that he enjoyed for decades. He always welcomed his family and friends into his home and it became a gathering place throughout his life.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Paul Grand and his girlfriend, Valarie Green, of South Glens Falls and Richard Garand, of Royal Palm Beach, FL; his sister Nancy Gregory, of Glens Falls; his sons, Michael Garand, of South Glens Falls and Andrew Garand and his wife, Rhonda, of Glens Falls; his daughters Christine Garand Scherer and her husband, Erik, of Gainesville, FL and Cathleen Garand, of South Glens Falls; his eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; the mother of his children, Sharon Havens, who after 23 years of marriage, he remained good friends with her and her husband, Robert; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Andrews request calling hours and services will be private. To view Andrews Book of Memories and to post online condolences, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com
