Obituary for Gladys T. Carey

Gladys T.  Carey
Gladys T. Carey, 98, of Moreau passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 20, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Cleon and Minnie (McGrouty) Thomson.

She attended Glens Falls Schools and graduated from South Glens Falls High School class of 1936.

In Gladys’s earlier years she was employed by area lawyers and later becoming a homemaker.

On December 26, 1940 she married Frederick Carey at the Methodist Church in South Glens Falls.

Gladys enjoyed gardening, family dinners, traveling with Fred in their motor home to all but 2 states and spending their winters in Florida.

She was a member of the Church of Messiah in Glens Falls and the Moreau Senior Citizens

In addition to her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Frederick F. Carey; her son, Joel F. Carey; grandson, Michael Carey; brothers, William (Doris) Thomson and Cleon (Carolyn) Thomson.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Nancy (Fred) Como of Burnt Hills, Marilyn (Robert) Surprenant of Hudson Falls and Colleen (William) Burke of Lakemont, GA; daughter-in-law, Antoinette Carey of Moreau; granddaughters, Amy (Patrick) Cronin, Stephanie (Christopher) Veit, Susan (Stephen) Noisseau, and Lora Como; grandson, Ronald Ives; great granddaughters, Sarah Cronin and finace Kevin Driscoll and Emilie Noisseau; great grandsons, Michael Cronin, Charles and Auqustus Veit and Ryan and Michael Ives; along with her special nieces and nephews who took time to visit Aunt Gladys, Patricia Prutsman, William and Linda Thomson, Connie Thomson, Special friends, Linda Bean, Nellie Johnson and Thomas Ives; step grandchildren, Paul and Zie Surprenant, Cathy and Louis Fronczek, Michael and Lisa Bruce, and Trevor Bruce.

At Gladys’s request there will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11;00am on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Southside Cemetery, Town of Moreau.
