Maurene “Mo” Viault, 87, of Fort Edward, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital with her family by her side.

Born in Fort Edward on August 27, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Earl and Florence (Jones) Ellis.

Mo first started working as a Fort Edward Crossing Guard at the school, she then became the first female Police Officer in Fort Edward and proudly won the 1st place trophy in target shooting.

She was a co-owner of Punk Limmer’s Pro and Mo Pro-Shop in Fort Edward where they sold bowling, golf and other sports equipment. Later in life she started donating trophies and plaques to many different area schools, fire departments, rescue squads and police departments.

On her 80th birthday she was still working at the shop and there was a big article in the newspaper talking about how dedicated and devoted she was to the business.

Mo was a very dedicated, loving, fun mother who played the piano for all the kids to hear, had carnivals in her backyard with rides, games and cotton candy for all the kids and their friends. She was a Girl Scout leader and went to all the little league and football games for her children.

In addition to her parents, Mo was predeceased by her husband, Donald Viault; Punk Limmer her loving companion of over 30 years; siblings, Donald Ellis, Raymond Ellis and Jean (Ellis) (Lindsey) Fish.
