Donald J. Cassant, 60, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born January 16, 1957 in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Lawrence and Edith (Bentley) Cassant.

He graduated from Fort Edward High School class of 1975.

In his early years he was self-employed working with his brother Arthur at Cassant Brothers and Company Construction, later in life becoming the president of Cropseyville Doors Inc. Donald also was a Volunteer Fireman at Durkee Hose in Fort Edward.

In high school Donald enjoyed playing football and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also enjoyed hunting, skiing and being the judge for ski races at Stratton Mountain.

His favorite role was being an uncle and great uncle to all of the children in his life.

Donald was a member of the Deer Valley Club in Indian Lake.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Cassant.

Left to cherish his memory include his sister, Frances Hanna and Mary (Joe) Reger; his brothers, Larry (Vickie) Cassant and Mark (Sharon) Cassant; nieces, Sandy (Mario) Tricomi, Heather Hanna, Janelle (Dustin) Cummings and Jessica Cassant; nephews, Christopher Hanna, Jason (Roberta) Cassant, Aaron Reger and Noah Reger; sister-in-law, Sandy Cassant and her sons, David Smith and Justin Smith; greatly loved by all of his great-nieces, nephews and cousins; along with his hunting and skiing friends.

Friends may call from 4pm-6pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82, Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A funeral service will be held following the calling hours at 6pm.

Burial will be on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 12 noon at Cedar River Cemetery, Indian Lake, NY.

Memorial donations in Donald’s memory may be made to C.R. Wood Cancer Center c/o Glens Falls Hospital Foundation 126 South St. Glens Falls, NY 12801.
