Christopher Grant Winter, 63, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born October 24, 1953 in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Harold and Virginia (DeBorse) Winter.

Chris graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1971.

On November 23, 1974 Chris married the love of his life, Edna M. Benson in Fort Ann by the Justice of Peace.

He was employed as a salesman at various local businesses until he retired early due to his disability.

Chris was a huge outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting in the Boreas, fishing, gardening, farming, canning, camping, music and most importantly spending time with his family. He started playing music at the age of 4 and was the youngest member inducted into the local music union at the age of 12. Growing up he was an integral part of a family band with his parents and brother called the Melotones, and then as a young man he started a band known as the Windjammers.

His favorite place in the world was home on the mountain.

In addition to his parents, Chris was predeceased by his brother, David Winter and his nephew, Trevor Mickens.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 42 years, Edna Winter of Crown Point; his son, Christopher Grant Winter II of Ticonderoga; his daughters, Lisa Bruce (Michael) of Moreau, Virginia Bott (Joe) of North Greenbush, Christian Bush (Philip) of Newcomb, Leia Harrington (John Paul) of Crown Point, April Hurlburt (Keith) of Crown Point, Cara Cowan (Chad) of Crown Point; a son by choice, Robert Lacey of Crown Point; 23 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his brothers, Ronald Winter (Kathleen) of Fort Edward, Mark Winter of Newcomb; his sisters, Cynthia Winter (Diane) of North Greenbush, Sharon Winter-Schorr of NYC; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Chris’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Chris’s memory may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association Inc. 1 Marcus Blvd. Albany, NY 12205.
