Obituary for Nicholas Allen Heald

South Glens Falls

Nicholas Allen Heald, 24, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family after a 7-year battle with cancer.

Born on July 13, 1993 in Rutland, Vermont he is the son of Chad Heald and Amy (Cosey) Gurdo.

Nick graduated from South Glens Falls High School Class of 2011. He continued his education at Adirondack Community College graduating in 2013 and Hudson Valley Community College graduating in 2015.

He was active in the South High Marathon Dance for 4 years and as alumni, donating a handmade Adirondack Chair each year.

On Friday, May 26, 2017 Nick married the love of his life Courtney Brosius at the South Granville Congregational Church with the ceremony officiated by pastor Bob Flower.

Nick attended the South Granville Congregational Church and was a member of the NRA and Sons of the American Legion.

He enjoyed music, movies, camping, building, debating, anything that challenged him, hiking the high peaks, going to the beach every year and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Nick was a hard worker, wonderful friend and never gave up. He was loved by so many people and always had kind words to say about everyone.

Nick is predeceased by his great grandparents, Mable and Harry Bissell, Nicholas Riss, PJ and Elizabeth Kelly; his grandfather, Anthony F. Gurdo.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Courtney Heald of South Glens Falls; his mother, Amy Gurdo and her husband John of South Glens Falls; his father, Chad Heald and his partner Laura Jokinen of Huntington, VT; his grandmother, Rebecca Cosey and her partner Robert Gillis of Granville; his grandfather, Ronald Cosey and his wife Valerie of Granville; great grandparents, John Cosey and Norma “Sweetie” of Granville; grandparents, John and Joyce Heald of Poultney, VT; great grandmother, Mary Riss of Meriden, CT; grandmother, Dee Gurdo of Clinton, NY; in laws, Tom Brosius of Gansevoort and Melissa Rayno and her partner, Mike Higgins of Fort Edward; along with several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

Friends and family may call from 4p.m. - 7p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 136 Main St. South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the South Granville Congregational Church, 7179 NY-149, Granville, NY 12832 with pastor Rick Backus and pastor Robert Flowers officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Oak Wood Cemetery, South Granville, NY.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Joanne Porter and staff, Albany Medical Center, Dr. Mark Urken and staff at Beth Israel Medical, NYC, Dr. Gillani, Elizabeth Reinhardt and staff of the C.R. Wood Cancer Center in Glens Falls.
