Richard Joseph Lawrence, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his home.

Born on August 3, 1935 in Queensbury, he was the son of the late Raymond and Madeline (Harris) Lawrence.

Richard was a Hudson Falls High School graduate. From 1953 to 1956, Richard was in the United States Army and until 1961 he was in the reserves. He worked as a radio and electric equipment repairman while in the Army and received his National Defense Service Medal. Years later he enjoyed working at Bon Ton.

On July 8, 1962 Richard married Frances Corlene Colton at the First Presbyterian Church in Glens Falls.

He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, raking leaves and fishing. Richard cherished the time that he got to spend with his grandchildren. For many years he was a member of the VFW 520 in Saratoga.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert Lawrence; his mother-in-law, Irene Colton and father-in-law, Francis Colton.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Frances; his children, Jeffrey Lawrence and his wife, Jennifer of Granville, Linda Huguley and her husband, Michael of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Jason Foss and Ashley Foss of Glens Falls, Hunter Lawrence of Granville; his brother, Raymond Lawrence and his wife, Barbara of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Richard’s request there will be no calling hours.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Richard’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
