Marjorie A. “Marge” (Newell) Smith, 87, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at her home.

Born March 6, 1930 in Astoria, Long Island, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Julia (Ahrends) Newell.

Marge worked at Fairchild Republic, an aviation company on Long Island as a receptionist for over 40 years. She later worked at the Glens Falls Middle School.

Marge married Harold Smith on Long Island and together they raised their family for over 65 years until his passing in 2015. She loved camping and crafting and was one of Elvis Presley’s biggest fans.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Marge is predeceased by her sister Dorothy Radcliffe.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Harold Smith and Joseph Smith and his wife Suzanne, her grandchildren; Justin, Jacquelynn, Joseph, Alecia, and Kristine, her brother Lloyd Newell, four great-grandchildren, and her beloved companion dog, Rocky.

Friends may call from 4-6pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. A prayer service will follow calling hours at 6pm with Rev. Joseph Busch officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Mary's Church, 64 Warren St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

The Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Memorial donations in Marge’s name can be made to the SPCA of Upstate NY, 588 Queensbury Ave, Queensbury, NY 12804.
