Obituary for Ruth M. Calhoun

Ruth M. Calhoun, 95, went into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Easton Corners, NY on April 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Dutcher) Goman.

Ruth married Earl James Calhoun in Easton, NY, they spent more than 50 years together until his passing in 1996.

She was a member and Sunday School Teacher at the South Argyle Presbyterian Church. For the last 50 years she was a member of the Argyle Presbyterian Church. Ruth was also a long standing member of the Just a Mere Club. She provided loving child care and domestic help for various families in the Cossayuna area for many years.

Ruth enjoyed playing bingo, but she especially loved gardening. Anyone who knew Ruth would know that she had an amazing green thumb for growing flowers.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by her grandson, Thomas Lewis; her siblings, Judd, Grace, Raymond, Mae, Bill, Bertha, Howard, Catherine, Ernest, Charles, John, Robert and Betty Goman.

Left to cherish her memory include her son, James H. Calhoun of Warrensburg; her daughters, Dorothy Fritts and her husband, Steven of Cooperstown, Peggy Lewis and her husband, Bill of South Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Jaime Calhoun and Marnie Calhoun; her great-grandchildren, Frank, Kristy, Nicole, Christopher and Cassandra; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 11am to 12pm on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Argyle Presbyterian Church, 48 Main Street, Argyle.

Funeral services will follow the calling hour at the church.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Greenwich Cemetery.
