Elva Gloria ""Shorty""  Bolster (Ayers)
Elva “Shorty” (Ayers) Bolster, 90, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 27, 1928 in West Pawlet, VT she was the daughter of the late G. Fay and Elizabeth (Jones) Ayers.

Shorty move to Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. After graduation she moved to Glens Falls and worked for Glens Falls Electric Supply. While working there, she met the love of her life, Ernest “Bo” Bolster.

Shorty married Bo on August 23, 1953 in the First Baptist Church of Glens Falls. They celebrated 58 loving years together until his passing on March 2, 2012.

Shorty retired from the City of Glens Falls where she worked in the City Clerk’s office.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Glens Falls since 1960, serving as a deacon, a youth group leader, a member of the fellowship committee, and ABWM (Women’s Society).

She loved to volunteer and did so with Bo for many years. She also loved working at the First Baptist Church Thrift Shop, The American Red Cross Blood Mobiles, and the Warren County Records Center. Shorty and Bo received the Red Cross Volunteer of the Year Awards in 2011. Shorty also enjoyed participating in line-dancing classes and Osteobusters.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shorty is predeceased by her daughter Wendy Lund, her granddaughter Brooke Martindale, her sisters, Marjorie Wilson and Lita Mosher, and her brother, Glen Fay Ayers.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lonnie Bell and Sherri Bolster, her son-in-law, William (Chip) Lund, her grandchildren, Kevin Martindale and his wife Karry, and Eddie Bell and his wife Sky, her great-granddaughters, Kaylin Martindale and Ellie Bell, her sisters-in-law, Arlene Green and Joyce Bolster, her brother-in-law Edmund Bolster and his wife Diane, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Friends may call from 4-6pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 11am on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Glens Falls, 100 Maple Street, Glens Falls, NY.

Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.

Pall Bearers are; Kevin Martindale, Eddie Bell, Dan Underwood, Chip Lund, Tim Webster, and Matt Webster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shorty’s name can be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 100 Maple Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801 or to the Open Door Mission, PO Box 3306, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
