Obituary for Ursula "Lillian" Rabine (Catone)

Ursula "Lillian" Rabine (Catone)
Glens Falls
Lillian “Ursula” (Catone) Rabine, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Glens Falls Hospital on April 21, 2018, after a short illness.

Lillian was born on March 28, 1924 to the late Maria (Corsall) Catone and Pasquale Catone.

Lillian attended Fort Edward schools. During World War II, she worked at General Electric Co. She was also an excellent seamstress employed by Gruber Company of Hudson Falls, NY.

In July 1944, she married the love of her life, Thomas J. Rabine at St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage before his passing on May 20, 1988. They loved spending winters together at their home in Homosassa, Florida.

Through the years they built three cottages on Hadlock Pond. After a few years they built the main house where they continued to enjoy many years with their family and friends. Their home on Hadlock Pond became the center where we gathered for family picnics, boating, fishing and overnights. This was a wonderful place where our most special memories were made together as a family.

Lillian had a devoted faith in God. Her devotion to the Blessed Mother was unwavering. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish for many years and also a member of the Catholic Daughters.

A consummate mother and homemaker, Lillian was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Oh, how we will miss her Italian cookies, her sauce and meatballs, fried bread dough, fried peppers, and so many other special dishes.

Lillian was known for her sense of humor. She was fun, feisty, and loving.

Later years Lillian moved to Cronin High Rise in Glens Falls. She loved Monday night Bingo games (her lucky #13) and visiting each evening over coffee and dessert. Many thanks to everyone there for their care and concern and love for our Mom. (You know who you are.) Thank you everyone!

Lillian was predeceased by her son David Rabine, and her siblings: Henry, Joseph, Patsy, Madeline, Nicholas, Mary, Sylvester, Anthony, Christine, Diamond, and Angelo. Also, two sets of twins died at birth.

Survivors include her children Thomas Rabine (Helene) and Donna Rabine Sharp (Andrew), grandchildren Jason Sharp (Sarah), Trisha Sharp Crandall (Sean), Patrick Rabine (Erika), Michael Rabine, and Chelsea Wiggins (Justin).
Great Grandchildren: Brooke, Brett, Lily, Kate, Andrew, Annie, Brody, Brenna, Bryton, and Trenton. She is also survived by her sister Rose (Catone) Doherty and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thanks to Dr. Joseph D'Agostino, Dr. William Borgos, and Dr. Robert Beaty, Mary Doty, and all the wonderful nurses and aides at the Glens Falls Hospital who cared for our mother.

Friends may call on Friday, April 27th from 4-7pm at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, April 28th at 9:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828 celebrated by Father Tom Babiuch and Father Martin Fisher.

A Rite of Committal will take place following the Mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Edward.

From your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren “we will always miss you and love you so much.”
