Chance meeting

I remember your last day in Vietnam (July 1st 1967) and it was my first in Vietnam I was in formation waiting to find out where I was going to be stationed, you heard my name called. You called my first name a couple of times, l didnt respond since l didnt know anyone there. You finally tapped me on the shoulder to get my attention. After that we then proceeded to go out that night and got very drunk. When l got back to the barracks someone took my mattress, you then went into the officers barracks and came back with a mattress over your shoulder for me. You assured me that where I was going was going to be fairly safe place and you upon returning home called my parents and told them the same. I tell that story often. Rest In Peace my friend. Tim
